November 21, 2009

Message from MBASA:

Dear All,

It gives us immense pleasure to announce the launch of Cerebration 2010 and invite you to participate in the Global Business Plan Competition. Cerebration is now in its sixth year and is already one of the top-notch premier business plan competitions among leading business schools around the world.

The competition gives participants the opportunity to work on live cases based on 3 global organizations that are seeking solutions to their complex business challenges. The competition begins with registration, where participants form a team and choose their preferred Case Sponsor based on the Case Summaries on our website. At the close of the registration period, complete Case Documents of the preferred Case are mailed to all participating teams based on which they will write comprehensive business plans and compete for a chance to present their strategy to the top management of their chosen Sponsor.

So if you think you are ready for a true battle of mind, mettle, and matter, register now. This competition is open to all Graduate level students. We look forward to your participation.

GSEC Entry and Competition Criteria

GSEC business plans must clearly demonstrate the financial Return on Investment (ROI) and the Social Return on Investment (SROI), in addition to the social impact of the business idea.  Please refer to the GSEC Submission Requirements and Resources for application and business plan criteria.

GSEC plans are judged on three criteria: (1) effect on the quality of life and poverty alleviation in the developing economies; (2) financial sustainability; (3) feasibility of implementation.  To learn what former GSEC participants have proposed, visit the GSEC business plans section.

GSEC is open to students from any academic institution worldwide. Teams may be comprised of students from difference disciplines and institutions, and multi-disciplinary teams are highly encouraged. Both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible.  Looking for team members? Become a fan of GSEC on Facebook and post on the Discussions page to recruit a team or team members.

Review the GSEC rules for full eligibility details.

ESADE Sports – Rugby

October 7, 2009

There are numerous sports initiative at ESADE, one of which is rugby. I am a great fan of this sport myself and there are many others who have now teamed up to play rugby more or less seriously. There will be a training sesson next Monday, 12th October, on Mar Bella Beach at around 14h. We will be playing on the beach just behind the rugby pitch. (Metro: “Poble Nou”). Google map location is here.

As we are looking at playing more seriously we suggest to bring some mouthguards. According to the main coordinator “we will start with some proper practice and contact” so we are looking forward to a nice game.

Reminder: The Good Entrepreneur – Deadline 31.07.09

July 30, 2009

A quick reminder that tomorrow, the 31st of July 2009, the application process to the Business Plan competition “The Good Entrepreneur” closes as mentioned earlier. This event is organised by CNBC and is looking for the entrepreneur whose idea can change the world.

Quite a few of us, particularly members of the ESADE Entrepreneurship Club, had planned to participate in this very interesting competition but the final exams have made it almost impossible to deliver something sound that can compete with other European innovators and entrepreneurs. Maybe next time…

MBAT – Uni against Uni

May 8, 2009

As mentioned earlier, the 19th MBATournament (MBAT) at HEC in Paris, France, is taking place in Paris this weekend  (7-10 May 2009). Check out the MBAT website itself because that gives you all the details but I can tell you that most of the students flew to Paris for this Inter-University Sports Competition. May the games be fair and ESADE win always :) All the best my ESADE-friends and -colleagues!
