More on Typhoon Ketsana:
Sept. 26, 2009 – typhoon Ketsana hit the Philippines. The tragedy claimed more than 140 lives and displaced over 430,000 people. It’s the worst flooding recorded in the country since 1967. Manila and surrounding areas were lashed with heavy rains and flash floods for nine hours, leaving some areas under 20 feet of water. The capital and 23 other provinces have been declared under a STATE OF CALAMITY. Many people are missing or trapped and numerous areas are still submerged in floodwater. More than 1.2 million people have no electricity. Victims are in dire need of basic relief goods like food, water and clothing. The death toll is expected to climb, and so are the number of missing and injured.
