I know that certain universities film their lectures and store them in the library for future access of their students. The new initiate of AcademicEarth takes this to a new level. This website aggregates the lecture videos of several top universities, eg. Princeton, Yale, Harvard, MIT, Stanford and publishes them readily available to internet users. Check out AcademicEarth here. The original idea is to bring education to the world, which is very interesting. Perhaps other universities could start doing that publishing their lectures, too. Are the universities to greedy to keep the information to themselves or do the benefits outweigh the negativ consequenes of spreading knowledge across the world for free?
